I did the swap before any replies appeared. I was pleasantly shocked at how easy it was. Lifting the car, removing the wheel and inner fender liner took longer than all the other work combined which included checking pulleys, replacing one pulley, and replacing the alternator. I took it out through the top, only removing the upper mount, the MAP sensor nipple, and moving the power steering reservoir and hoses out of the way. The alternator was definitely making the noise. With the "new" alternator, it's running quiet again. However, the voltage seems too high now, hovering around 14.4-14.6, occasionally hitting as high as 14.8.
