we drove the car one more time with my good friend Kenny in it (15 year saab tech) - and concluded that the trans needs to come off. The car has a hard time engaging gears and it slips when torque is applied. To me as well, these are classic signs of clutch failure. Pedal feel is strong, and overall nothing indicates hydraulic failure.
Further more i received an overwhelming opinion from a couple of the techs about aftermarket clutches and how none of them ever trust aftermarket. Stories of aftermarket clutches followed involving bmw, audi and saab and how sachs clutches always came in better and stronger.
I understand things fail but at 30K it is beyond unexpected. I have plenty of miles (over 300K on my previous saabs, all manual) so my driving style is not destructive to clutches. Power was marginal also because even though i upgraded to FPT i never quite had full boost because of the damn BCV and more recently the inoperable speedo which again limited boost. So, really no reason for the clutch to go.
