'97 catback exhaust options / longevity Posted by ELaw [Email] (#699) [Profile/Gallery] (more from ELaw) on Wed, 31 Dec 2014 09:17:42 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
All,
Happy almost new year!
So the exhaust on my '97 Aero is getting pretty tired, and I'm wondering what my options for replacement are.
On sites like eeuro and saabsite I see Bosal and Starla mufflers, and a genuine Saab rear for a much higher price.
I'm mostly wondering how the various brands hold up? In the past I'd always liked the OE stuff, but on my '86 I installed a couple of OE rear mufflers that lasted less than two years each, so I'm now a little suspicious of those.
If anyone's aware of any currently-available sport options that are 2.5" I'd be interested in hearing about those too. On the car now is a "Saber" 2.5" catback system that I've been very happy with, but it's starting to significantly rust (after 12 years) and they don't seem to be available any more? I know genuinesaab has a 3" system but I really want to stick with 2.5" plus I don't need the entire system... the cat and forward bits are fine.
