Thanks to everyone that responded... you've definitely given me a lot to think about!
I hadn't noticed the BSR one at GS - it looks nice, but I'm not sure I want to invest $500 given how close the car is to end of life.
1000 years ago when I worked as a European car mechanic, Bosal had a pretty good reputation - better than Starla. But the fact the Bosal muffler is priced lower than the Starla makes me a bit suspicious... I know a lot of brands that were trustworthy in the past aren't any more.
Saab parts from the dealer I've had good luck with too - with the exception of those two early 9K mufflers I had that failed very quickly. And if I read the info on their website, unless the part is both purchased and installed at an "official service center" it has no warranty at all? That's pretty lame.
