Haven't done chains, balance or timing, on any of our 9000's ever. The one we've owned the longest, currently, is at 273k mi - bought at 20k. All synth oils of top quality at 7500 mi intervals.
My lowest mileage 9000, a '95 Aero w/ 130k, is the noisiest of the bunch. Bought it from my son, who bought it at 116k w nearly all the service records. Not noisy enough for me to tear into the engine, just keep changing the oil w/ synth.
Btw, I do add the LubroMoly Motor Oil Saver w/ the oil changes when I can't get the 10w-40 or 'high mileage' version of Mobil 1.
