Coincidence ?? Gremlins ?? Pointers, Please ?? Posted by vtsnaab [Email] (#26) [Profile/Gallery] (more from vtsnaab) on Sat, 17 Dec 2016 19:08:26 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I had a strange thing happen sometime back which sort of messed with my head and around (or at ??) that same time a couple of other things came along.
The strange thing was an exhaust leak that was barely audible, but also at the closest point to the deck of the trunk/hatch area - and it set the board to smoldering when I was making a 120+ mile drive.
I got through that little crisis OK, then found the wires to the fuel pump had suffered heat damage, so I spliced in a spare set that I had & all seemed well...except=>
Coincidentally the Aero's outside temp sensor quit showing anything sane (-39F on a sunny day - wow ?!?) and the fuel gauge went stupid on me too.
What it does now is what looks like an accurate indication when the IGN is just -on-, but after cranking & in 'run' it bottoms out & the empty warning light comes on.
It stays this way until after it has been parked & does this again at each start.
Until now I've just ignored the outside temp as it is merely a luxury, but the fuel gauge would make things much easier than watching mileage so as to know when to re-fuel.
I've been tempted to change out the fuel pump in hopes it is just the sender (I do have a whole, good spare...), but figure it may be best to ask here before doing what may be excess work for no good reason.
And...BTW=> the nearby ground connections have been examined already & showed no damages.
I find this baffling because the temp sensor is way up front vs. all this other stuff that is way in back - but of course that doesn't mean they are not -somehow- connected, right ??
Thanks for any helpful replies & Best Wishes to All !!
