When I look at some procedures I think'll be OK, and on others I think I'll get in over my head. Part of that is that I just don't have a lot of extra time. I'm self-employed but I still have to work and there are a load of house-related projects that make the time on the car not all that practical.
I'm gonna get some quotes/estimates on the job and see what makes sense. On the Saab 9000 oage on Facebook a guy in Sweden suggests an engine swap as being a better way to put the money out, especially since I have 237K on the original engine and the HG has never been off. Other stuff will be needing replacement, like the timing chain, sprockets, etc. I'd like to get another 3 years out of the car but it may not make sense financially.
I have another car to go to --a 1999 9-3-- my daughter had that needs to be resurrected and have a couple things fixed but is still OK. Then I could part out the 9K, which is probably worth more in parts than as a whole car. It still runs OK, but the HG is coming due soon so I can't use the car for trips, which is a major bummer.
Or maybe I just find another 9K and transfer the Aero suspension, seats and other goodies over to the other car, then sell the 9-3 as I had planned, then part out the remainder of the "old" 9K.
This is kinda frustrating.
