You might want to look at low mileage 2004-2008 Saab 9-5's. With $1000 of DIY parts installed under the hood, you basically have a Toyota Camry. If your spouse is uncomfortable about the model year, a nearly new Toyota Corolla should motor along flawlessly for a long period of time. Check out Consumer's Reports and Edmunds before you buy. I went from the 9000 to 9-5's and they are good cars.
