Dim33,
Thank you for posting at TSN!
Your current exhaust vocal symptoms are typical for a larger diameter exhaust system, and your “Popping” is typically exhaust back-draw which allows for the entry of air into the tailpipe upon engine deceleration which creates your reported sounds. Employment of the 2.5” exhaust system should eliminate your back-draw symptoms or you could consider a reduction 2.5” muffler in conjunction the remaining 3” exhaust system. The employment of the current turbocharger upgrade may also allow for lower exhaust system flow at engine idle due to the heavier wheel’s lower shaft rpm. This may compound your desired exhaust system velocities when coming to low engine speeds or idle…especially in conjunction with the 3” exhaust system.
Your other request for additional exhaust vocals could be greatly impacted via employment of a louver core muffler, which is a straight through design which provides additional system velocity as well as a increase in tailpipe vocals.
We wish you the best with this project, and we will be open today until 6PM EST if you should have additional questions!
Sincerely,
Gary K. at SDI
