This is happening to me too, right now. I am trying to truly pinpoint whats going on and when. So far I am thinking that when my car reaches the set temp (usually 70,72) and the blend door motor should blend the air from full heat, its going weird, and I only get cold air, unless I turn the car off and start again, I get heat again....
Its NOT the blend door or stepper motor. they work perfectly fine and are recently repaired, and tested with another ACC....(that I am not using because it has its own bizarre problems. ) Cabin air temp sensor is fine and etc...it just always seems to come back to the ACC unit.
But as "name left blank" stated, is a crap shot as they all just seem to be failing now due to age... One ACC will give me great heating, but fail at summer month cooling. One is just possessed. One I thought fixed my A/C problems but now is doing this when winter is coming up...
I think i just need to swap em in and out as needed...
I'd love to know if the units themselves might benefit from some re-soldering or are serviceable.
good luck!
