Good reminder on doing the heater core at the same time! And it's always fun to see the old Quasimotors site referenced as well.
I did the job on my '87 9kT so it was on the older model but it was also 10+ years ago so unfortunately I can't recall a lot of detail. I was surprised to hear about removing the wiper arms and motor, since that's certainly been more memorable than I would have liked on other cars, but if it went smoothly I likely would have just forgotten about it. I do know it only took me less than a day in an apartment parking lot, and the only trouble I really remember was having the wrestle the evaporator out the way, and how helpful it was to have a friend to hold it out the way while I wiggled the blower assembly out. So it's definitely a very do-able job at home even if it's more of a hassle than the later models.
