Current water pump choices Posted by JerseySaab [Email] (#666) [Profile/Gallery] (more from JerseySaab) on Fri, 22 May 2020 09:12:13 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I finally tracked down a minor coolant leak in my '97 CSE that has been getting steadily worse, it's dripping at the junction of the water pump pipe and the block. I replaced the water pump about 7 years ago so I figure if I have to go in there it's time to replace the pump.
What is the current best choice? Eeuroparts shows severals:
ProParts Sweden, made in Italy, $33.
Hepu, made in Germany, $55. (Said to be Saab OEM quality)
Graf, made in Italy, $57
Genuine Saab, made in Spain, $80
All come with gasket and O-rings and have 1-year warranty. Unfortunately the pump-to-engine pipe appears to be unavailable at a few places I checked. Has anyone come up with a replacement for this? (Just in case the pipe has deteriorated badly.)
I think the ProParts unit can be excluded from consideration due to that company's track record of spotty quality. I'm leaning towards the Hepu. I think that's what I used last time.
