a 1992 9000 2.3 Turbo CD with 223,000 miles. I need help to figure out where to look or how to trouble shoot it, so I can fix it if possible of course.
I was driving along about 60 MPH on Cruise Control and without notice, the RPM went very high while the car was slowing down. Stop the Cruise Control and RPM went to normal but the car would not go forward of reverse. Stop the Engine and went under the Hood or Bonnet to check if I could find something wrong inside. Nothing, everything looked ok. I close the Hood and started it again and put in Drive and it moved for about 50 yards and would no continue. I realized then if I would let the Engine cool a bit on the side of the Highway, the Transmission would probably engage and I could drive it to the nearest safe spot. To my surprise I did exactly that and drove it about 2 miles and stop the Engine to let it cool longer. About 40 minutes later, I started it again and was avail to drive it about 4 miles about 40 MPH to my friendĀ“s house. Parked it, hoping someone would let me know how to fix it.
Does this sound like the Governor Seals going bad and that is why is not holding hydraulic pressure will is Hot? Anyone had the same experience? How was it fixed? Thank you all in advance
