I guess I'll go against the crowd.
Here's a link to a post from several years ago: https://www.saabnet.com/tsn/bb/9000/index.html?bID=312781
I highly encourage the regular, non synthetic Castro GTX 10w 40. It 'rescued' the transmission of a 97 CSE I bought three years ago. A very, very balky 3rd gear synchro meant I was rolling the dice on a trans fluid change. PO records showed a change previously, just a year or so before I was test driving it.
So, after I bought it, I did a Castro GTX flush 3x over the course of the next 5,000 miles (the car had about 117k when I bought it). Trans kept getting better and better.
It's now perfect at 147k. My daily driver.
Glad to have you back in the 9k world.
Best of luck.
