For everyone information, with a 92 9K CD 2.3T with Auto. Trans, I did an experience about 7 years agi with the Thermostat Gutted out and drove it with an outside temperature of 110-120º F in the city and with A.C. on. It did not make a difference, none, the temp would still would reach almost to the red, like a hair thickness away. I swapped it out again with an Original Thermostat since it did not run cooler.
However, since I installed the Pressure Monitor (4071981) in the condenser, it runs cooler in the city and specially in a stopped at Red light or stop in the highway during rush hour. I´ve owned the car since the Factory deliver it to me and it did not come with the Pressure Monitor installed. It took me a while to figure it out, but since I installed it, I´m a happy camper. I had to purchase the 4383188 and modified the wires to make it fit since I could not find the 4071981 anywhere.
I hope this helps others.
