Sorry to hear about your '97. Yeah head gasket if that's what's wrong is an expensive job if you're not doing the work yourself. I wonder why your mechanic is stalling. It doesn't look any more difficult than it would be on most Brand X cars. (Though I've only ever removed and reinstalled the head on an 8-valve C900 myself.)

Well, parts for the 9000 are becoming thin on the ground these days. Seems to me that there are people here would be happy to buy some but finding a taker for the whole lot would likely be more difficult. As for how much it's all worth, no idea.
