Availability of evap purge valve?

I have a persistent P0444 code coming up on my '97 CSE. It's been an ongoing problem, but in the past I could clear the code and the CEL light would not come back on for quite some time - long enough for the drive cycle to complete and get through inspection. Now the light and code come back very quickly, so I need to do something about it. (The car comes up for NJ emission inspection in April.)

I have not had time to remove the inner fender liner to get at the canister to check for loose hoses. I can hear the purge valve click when activated with the Tech2 but that doesn't necessarily mean it's actually working properly. Looking for one in case it's needed I'm finding that valve (Saab #4442471, Bosch #0-280-142-301) has been discontinued and is unavailable at sources I've checked so far, including some European sources. So is a used valve the only option if replacement is needed, or is there a purge valve for a "Brand X" vehicle that will work?
