Thanks for the post. Are you the same guy who wrote a huge FAQ in swedish? It is very informative, I printed it out and will have it translated..
Is what you mentioned my only alternative? Shit.
I have already payed a fortune for the supposed reprogramming by Abbott (580 pounds). Getting "decent" ECU software will cost me at least that amount again. I might as well have bought the Viggen -which I would have if I had the money.
If I connect the solenoid and set base boost to the stock 0.4 bar, I don't know what the ECU program has for max boost. Most likely it is 0.8 bar -according to Abbott the ECU has the same settings on as on the 185hp car. I will lose power (I now have 0.9 bar). I am very upset about this situation, as I had heard good words about Abbott and expected proffesional services.
At the time I got the upgrade, I was unaware of the details of how the turbo functions (APC control etc.) and so jumped on the Abbott offer. The boost I am running is OK, but neither 100% safe from knocking nor gives as many horses as I would like.
I will have to try the pressure with solenoid and then decide on what to do.
Could it be that I am in luck and the max boost is directly related to the fuelcut setting? I doubt it, Murphy awaits! I was also thinking, perhaps if the ECU setting for max boost is for example 0.8 bar, I could have my mechanic mess with the ECU's pressure sensor, thus tricking it to seeing 0.8 bar when actually the pressure is 1.1 bar. Or would this screw up fueling etc. and blow the engine?
You seem quite knowledgable; I urge you to take some time and give the issue thought. If you can come up with anything, please let me know.
