Sounds about right...I spoke with the service advisors where I get mine serviced. They quoted around 1500.00 for the job also..and mentioned that a clutch job is recommended if you have it all apart as well. They rebuild them on-site...so no shipping here. Ive pretty much given up on expecting it to ever be perfect ..even after a rebuild..its obviously a weak link in an otherwise overall good car. Ill just live with it until it fails completely. I think the real difference here is that there are other 91/92 owners out there that dont shift with such "vigor" as we do..so they have no complaints..they take thier time. But whats the point of having a car that is capable of 0-60 times of under 7 seconds if you cant get through the gears ?? Yes that 50-70 highway acceleration is nice also. BTW ..according to my service advisor...there is no such thing as a NEW factory transmission from SAAB...they are rebuilt as well..and probably much much more money. Its a real thorn in my side....makes me want to start looking at Audis....but theyre not as fast as my 91T...guess Ill wait till the 250HP S4 goes on the used market..I should be able to afford one in...oh..6 or 8 years ...hahhaaa ..PS he said that they only replace what shows wear also..which also surprised me...why not do it all ..whats another couple hundred on a 1500 $ job?/
