I took my '92 9000T up to Roberti Motors to have their service department work on my persistent TCS problem. Turns out it was a faulty safety valve. 1.5 hours' labor and a $70 part. Bay Ridge Saab here in Brooklyn wanted to replace every component in the system, which would've cost me close to three grand. Boneheads.

Anyway, feeling lucky to have escaped a costly TCS repair, I decided to have a couple of other nagging problems taken care of. I now have a new DI cartridge and wiring harness, and I had them take care of the SRS recall. Even got a new heater core for my trouble!

Which leads me to my newest malady...the car ran perfectly cool (temp gauge halfway) on the highway, but I got stuck in traffic in the city, and came within an eyelash of overheating. Normally the temp gauge is at about 3/4. I called Roberti, and they weren't certain what the problem could be. I know that after replacing the heater core they flushed and refilled the coolant. Is there any chance that a new heater core could be affecting the cooling system? I also noticed when I shut down that the high speed cooling fan wasn't running. I've had problems with it in the past, and had the fan relay replaced a few months ago.

I'd love to resolve this soon, because most of my driving is done in the city. The new DI makes a world of difference, BTW. No misfiring under acceleration, lots o'boost...I've got my rocket sled back!!!

My girlfriend's already nervous.
