Alvaro,
I don't believe that there are any other external hardware differences (do make sure that if you are using later drive axles/hubs that you have the correct inner drivers sorted out for the drive axles and inner CV joints. I have never done that change, so maybe someone else can comment what to look out for there). I think that all the actual gear ratios of the 5 gears in all the gearboxes are the same - the only thing that was ever changed (and that you can change) is the primary drive chain sprockets. By changing that you can make the whole gearbox "taller" or "shorter". At least in the 4-speed boxes they made the boxes "taller" (that is, all of the ratios effectively got lower, so the engine speed is slower for a given road speed to take advantage of the additional torque of the turbo engine). A common failure mode in the 5-speed gearboxes is the pinion bearing carrier breaking due to abuse resulting the failure of the ring and pinion, which is expense enough to usually make the gearbox not worth repairing, so make sure you know the history of the gearbox.
Good Luck!
Gary
