Once you get under the fusebox, I am finding at this age (the car, not me) that the female terminals have relaxed from heat and corroded and sometimes lose contact with the male terminals on the bottom of the fuse panel. Problems have also been reported with the rivet that goes through the from the terminal on top of the panel which holds the fuse to the terminal on the bottom where the wires connect - corrosion and loss of contact can occur between that rivet and the contacts. Saab released an improved fuse box without those rivets at some point, not sure when (my '78 has rivets). It may be possible to drill out the rivet and replace it with a #4 screw and nut.
