In a similar application for a 1979 dizzy, I used Pro Wire as the supplier, and it was basically what I think they called missile wire. More resistant to EMI which would cause misfire, if the wire was in proximity to the spark leads in parallel or other high energy sources. Cross them at right angles if possible.
As I recall, you don't want to ground the shield at both ends, causes a ground loop, so interrupt one side of the shield and insulate.
Also, the two gauge wire, you want to spin the strands so they are wound up before you slide the shield over the cable. I think the Pro Wire was already wound, and then covered with a plastic sleeve.
