That vintage imports guy advertises "front engine mounts" but they sure look like side mounts. Again, buying a hockey puck and cutting it in half, using each half as a replacement for the rubber you have now, might not be a bad idea. Here's another thought: about 3 years ago, I picked up a '78 EMS. The car ran great but really ground against the heater box. The car had AC installed but not compressor. I realized that the bracked that would normally hold the compressor (the one between the head and the side mount on the passenger side) was missing. the engine obviously sat low in the rear. Puting the the bracket solved that problem.

I'm embarrassed to not have noticed it instantly but I usually don't expect they to be missing engine brackets in a running car.

Anyway, don't discount just lowering that front mount. Get the whole mount out of there, take it apart, cut some metal off that inner sleeve and then tighten the whole thing back down. This will squish the rubber fairly well and you may have to do the final tightening after reinstalling the mount ( the lower rubber part will want to bulge out a bit and will not want to fit back through the hole in the car body). Lowering the front mount even by an eighth of an inch should translate into quite a bit more room at the heater box.
