Brently was here for two days and could have had spare parts if I had more than 10 of them laying around:)...I offered!
It was weird because I hooked a test light to his wires on the rear view mirror terminals and the light lit dimly, but only on one of the two wires. Does that mean the other wire was broke somewhere and not connected to ground? prolly not(starting to think now)...the wire that was touched and made the light glow was probably the faulty wire.
The interior lighting, trying to fault trace can be a pain because of where all the wires are run, access wise...unless you gut the interior. That's why my 73 has no interior lighting, except for the dash lights.
