Well guys, thanks again for all the great advice. I think I can definitely pin this down to being the mounting bracket now. I've just been out and run the car. The vibrations were going all through the car as usual. But if I reach in under the cylinder head and pull upwards (as you know it's mounted at a slant) the vibration stops. Therefore I think that the replacement of this bracket should cure it. The whole clutch thing must have been a coincedence after all........
