1) For removing the incumbent transaxle, DON'T follow the procedure in the shop manual for disengaging the inner ends of the drive shafts. Instead, after pulling back the rubber boots, unbolt the lower ball joints and swing out the suspension uprights just enough to pull the driveshaft ends out of the couplers. Reverse the process when the new transaxle is in. This is easier than the shop-manual procedure, and you can go slowly so there's less risk of knocking off the bearing caps.
2) Smear some anti-seize on the rear transmission "nipple" before inserting it into the rear mount -- this reduces the risk that it will stick to the mount the next time you need to remove it.
Half-a-tip) If you have trouble lining up the transaxle with the rear mount (it's hard to see because it's under the steering rack) try cutting appropriate threads into a piece of rod stock about 8 inches long, and thread it into the rear nipple. Use this rod as a guide to line up the transaxle with the rear mount. Unscrew and remove it before you push the transaxle all the way in, so it doesn't snag anything in the car's interior.
