Few years ago in Europe I heard a familiar sound across the fields - just like an old 2-stroke 96. Then over the bridge and round the corner came an East German Trabant with its engine punching away in that familiar manner and with the telltale smoke from the back.
It would be interesting to know what those were like to drive.
Of course the SAAB engine was based on the pre-WWII DKW engine which was also the basis for the Trabant one.
