Great!
Do you have a manual that describes the process?
Gaskets- it depends on their condition. They're made of cork material and are fairly thick. I've never tried just using gasket-goo to seal them up. If they come off and appear to have some life left in them, you can reuse and add some gasket sealer. If its been 1000 years since they've been off... well, time for some new ones.
One other tip- the V-4 valve covers tend to leak. So what does the owner do? He tightens the cover screws down with 20,000 ft-lbs of torque. "there", he says, "that sucker will never leak ago!" Not good. What happens is the metal around the valve cover bolt hole gets deformed- the bolt head, under high tightening torque pushes out the mating surface such that it makes the problem worse! So when you take off your covers, check the mating surface for this. You can easily lay the cover edge (with the cover upside down) on the edge of a work bench and using a hammer, lightly tap the mating surface to remove this bulge around the bolt holes. Then when you install, don't crank the cover bolts down with a 3 foot breaker bar! Go easy!
