With a healthy cooling system your radiator determines your total cooling capacity - the thermostat controls the actual operating temp. Until I put in the PRC, the car didn't have enough reserve and would overheat. Now it doesn't. Overkill? Maybe, but I was tired of opening the heater valve to keep it from boiling over in the summer.
The PRC radiator was about $350 as I recall. It is thicker than a 3-core stock and the minimum width is 22". Height is the secret to making it fit.
