After the post I used a wooden dowel and found TDC on #1. At 6Deg before the center of the rotor arm had just passed the mark on the distribution. I am wondering how far off the marks would be if the distributor was off by one tooth? Could this account for my discrepancy? One of the giant brains out there knows or could compute it knowing the number of teeth on the dizzy etc. It DEFINATLY runs better when the mark is not aligned. Since I must drive it to the inspection station early, I left well enough alone for now. Still it is festering in my feverish little brain. I know there is some simple explanation.
Thanks for any help
Tom
