I was part of that discussion being in oz and having problems with LRP. A couple of us ie most people with old cars in oz were having problems with plugs fouling very quickly on this new fuel and I think we were all looking for a solution. I think one of the end result of the discussion was to recommend that engines were tuned and not running too rich.
As it turns out alot of the problems may have been due to a batch of bad fuel from several fuel companies which caused the problem (not that they would admit liability...I have a couple of mechanic/towing bills I would like paid!) Something to do with the additives they did or didn't use caused plugs to foul very quickly, particularly on old cars that may of been running a little rich (ie old saabs!)
The problem seems to have slowly disappeared (not completly!) as either the fuel quality improved and/or the cars have become 'run in' to the new type of fuel. To further confuse the matter we now have ultimate 98 (Unleaded 98 RON fuel available now) which means that we do not have to rely on dodgy LRP.
I hope this helps
