Saab part number 7495930 purchased from eeuroparts.com. It is the same part as the one I took out except that I didn't use the metal spacer as per the tech bulletin found at http://www.townsendimports.com/Saab_TSB_Folder/Saab_TSB_List/
It has both a black plastic housing that uses two screws to attach to the car and a black plastic wiring harness that is quite large. The plate on the part is larger than the plate in the car but it fit fine otherwise.
It was simple to replace as I already had the dash taken apart:
-remove two screws holding old part on
-unplug wiring harness and remove the old part
-wipe of dried old goop from the metal plate in the car
-apply thin coat of dielectric silicon grease to plate in car and plate on new part
-press on new plate and tightened screws. The old ones were really tight so I tried to apply significant pressure.
-plug in wiring harness.
Tried it and it didn't turn on so that's when I performed another ACC system check and pulled the fuses to try to reset it.
I'm hopeful that we can find that I've done something wrong!
Thanks,
David
