Kinda smart girl - can she fix tie rod and broken strut

Okay, I just got back from the local tire place and took advantage of their free 20 point vehicle inspection. I've had an annoying rattle in the front end for awhile and decided to find out exactly what was wrong with it. Found out it was LF strut mount is broken and right puter tie rod is loose. The dealership wasn't open for them to give me a price but they did give me a quote on labor. TR- $63.00 and L Upper Strut Mount- $56.00. Asked if I could supply my own parts (probably Eeuroparts) as dealer will be mucho denero! They said fine. Cool - should I fix or should they fix? I taught my boyfriend how to do brakes and rotors on his Dodge Ram pickup and have two 88 900T that I myself have done complete brake jobs on. Is this much harder?
Looked for this mystical DRS(underscore)install but could not find one for strut mounts. Found a few others though. Can someone point me in the right direction?
RANT TIME - while there, they examined my brakes and said I need rotors, calipers, and pads. Well I know they tell EVERYONE they need to pads and rotors but calipers? They tell me they one rear is seized and doesn't supply any braking. They they started talking all "girlie" When you push the brake pedal it pushes fluid to the calipers and they apply pressure... blah blah blah. THey quoted me over a THOUSAND dollars for 4 calipers, rotors, and pads! Where the heck to they get those numbers? Eeuroparts has them for a lot less! Guess I know what I'm doing next weekend. :-)
