before you make up your mind. Obviously the SAAB is the value winner with the SAAB at 28K and the BMW at 36K (BMW probably won't come off of the sticker much either). If you think you have the possibility of paying anywhere near 36K for a BMW, test drive the Viggen. Now your talking sporty. BMW has it's vitues don't get me wrong, but you do have to pay dearly for them. I definitely would not settle for a stripped BMW, I think you would regret it in the long run.
I'm not sure what the suspension differences are between the SAAB 9-3base and 9-3SE, but I do know that the tires/rims do make a difference. The ride in the SE is definitely a little sportier. Plus you'll like the goodies that the SE package throws in (power seats, ACC, leather seats, upgraded sound system, etc.)
