Now to get on the subject of Opels. I owned several: 68 Kadett, 72 Manta, 73 GT, 94 Wagon, 95 Manta. At the time I bought my first Kadett I remember going with my dad to look at a 60's era Saab that was 2 cycle whereby you had to add oil to a reservoir to mix with the gas - I think. Well I went down a different path!
Well the reason I liked OPEL and why I also like Saab is that they are good cars, are not owned by many folks (unique) and both tend to not hold there value and can be bought for a steal if you know what you are doing - I remember buying a 95 OPEL Manta loaded with 30K miles for $800 in 1980. Dealer told the owner it was a bad engine. I found a bad fuel injector (one trip to the junk yard for a pre FI intake and a new Weber carb fixed that - those were the days.
So while my wife wanted that BMW convertible with 60K miles which was priced at $28K, I picked up a Saab Convertible with 40K miles for about $16K.
AND the insurance is nearly half that of the BMW!
