Your dealer's nuts. The free maintenance includes virtually all regular maintenance, including oil changes. For the Viggen, there's a 30 day checkup, and then maintenance at 10K, 20K, 30K, etc. This program is provided uniformly by all Saab dealers, as it's established
by Saab; it's not a dealer-to-dealer variable thing. It's described in the owner's manuals. Hell, it's on SaabUSA's website: "This program covers all factory-recommended scheduled maintenance (exlcuding wear and tear items)" for 3 years or 36K miles, whichever comes first. Oil is not a "wear and tear item". Excluded wear/tear items would include brake pads, clutch linings, and the like. I've got about 10K miles on my 2001 Viggen, and my dealer just did the 10K service, including oil change, for free, just like they're supposed to.
