I've actually had about the best luck rejuvinating worn and dirty floor mats using one of those "Rug Doctor" carpet shampoo machines that you can rent from a variety of local discount-type stores (Wal Mart, for example). We occassionally rent one to clean high-traffic areas in the carpet, and I always use it on the car and van floor mats before turning it back in. Pretty decent results. Then, after the mats dry, I give the mats a quick hit with some 3M Scotch Guard.
Good luck,
SaR.
