GHP,
Congrats on the purchase of your Saab convertible. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine.
Check out the following websites for roof care:
1) http://www.autopia-carcare.com/
2) http://www.carcareonline.com (I think they already posted a response to your question)
3) http://www.topoftheline.com
Since my car is mostly garaged, I rinse the top off once a week with just water. Once a month or if I know that the top has been exposed to dust, dirt, etc. I will wash it off using a shampoo. Presently, I have been using Malm's Carnuba Wash. It does not leave behind any oils so it is safe for the soft top. I have also used the Porsche top cleaner. There are quite a few products to choose from. Don't forget to clean out the top storage bag just to make sure that dust and dirt don't collect in there and rub against the fabric causing it to wear.
