It may sound a little obsessive, but after three days and only 100 miles on the 2001 convertible, it had gotten a bit dirty from a rainfall and the complete overload of armorall the dealer prep folks put on the wheels. So I washed it with car wash specific soap (forgot the brand) and realized that I could get it to bead better than the boys in the factory or dealer prep could do. Mother's wax, and one hour's worth of work will pay dividends ever subsequent wash. Bird left-overs, road tar, sap, and general grim will come off much easier if waxed properly. And the other guy was right - do it yourself if you want it done with the right wax, and done thoroughly. Good luck.
