SO what is your point, non-scientific anecdotal evidence is more reliable than hearsay about empirical studies utilizing valid sample parameters? I think you need to rethink your comments about who is qualified to opine on what Audi or SAAB engine. According to your theory, I can not assume a Chevy Malibu is inferior to an Audi or SAAB until I have owned and operated all three concurrently????

How do I know healthcare is better is at Johns Hopkins than it is at a community hospital in rural Iowa? Since I have not personally experienced both, I must lack sufficient expertise to state such a hyptothesis with certainty. Moreover, your entire contention is that car manufacturers seemingly can not be trusted to re-engineer models successfully. The 98 9-5 was extensively prototyped and tested and the NG 9-3 is undergoing similiar debugging. How much do you know about process engineering in the manufacture of mass produced durable goods? Perhaps, it is you who needs to work on the assembly lines and in the engineering departments of SAAB and Audi before opining.

My point is this, save the holier than thou judgments for direct reports and let the collective herein engage in speculative discourse.
