like most Viggen owners, I too looked at Audi before deciding. In my case it turned out to be close to even dollars deciding between a 2000 A4 1.8T Avant (I want the room to haul stuff) and a leftover 99 Viggen. I am still thrilled with the Viggen even after 50k miles. I have never been in a car that blends such performance with utility and economy. I routinely get 30 mpg on the highway yet if I want to pass a line of cars, I believe no other car in the sub 40-45k range comes close in terms of 50-80 mph get up and go. There is a lot of truth to the "torque steer" talk if all you want to do is drag from a standing start. But really, you must be over that by now! The real juice in this car comes in passing at normal driving speeds.

Moreover I can haul a couch or sleep in the back if I elect to. The suspension is indeed old compared to the Audi, but it has not bothered me in the least. The latest car%driver said all sorts of funky things about the car, but the one thing they did say is it is fun to drive. S'truth!

Resale? yeah it sucks. So keep it for a while. That stuff evens out with time. I suspect the dealer's won't give you much more for an equivalent mileage and year Audi. Plus not everyone has one.

Have fun deciding.
ps- a good buddy has an S4 Avant- I'd maybe take that over the Viggen but it is smaller feeling inside, gets lousy mileage and I would worry about the high cost of maintaining that particular engine over the course of time.
