Turn Signal Housing Gone....Has This Happened To You???

The other day I was driving from Philly to State College (aprox 200 mile drive). I got on the turnpike and everything was fine. About 150 miles later I went to change lanes and realized that my right turn signal was blinking fast. I figured that a bulb had blown and that it wasn't a big deal. When I got to State College, I got out of the car to check into the situation, and realized that in fact the WHOLE TURN SIGNAL CASING had blown away. The only thing that was left was two plugs. I called Saab Roadside Assistance and they told me that there was nothing that they could do for me and directed me to the nearest Saab dealer. They told me that there was nothing that they could do then (parts and service was closed) and they told me to take it up with the dealer on Monday. I called the dealer by my house, and they told me that they have heard of this happening before, but it isn't covered under warranty.
I was wondering how this could not be covered under warranty. My car has less than 12K miles on it, is about 8 months old (got it July 1). I am posting here because I would like to know:
1. Has this happened to anyone else?
2. Has anyone ever heard of such a thing?
3. Should this be covered under warranty? (i.e.-should I call Saab of America and give them a piece of my mind...)
4. Any other advise.
Please e-mail me at kxb177@psualum.com
Thanks!!!!
