Hey All,
I love my new '02 Aero (loved the Viggen too!)as I have also adored my Audi TT quattro, and 3-series BMW. But along the way, I have also owned three Honda Accords and two Preludes. In all cases, I did only simple mods - wheels/tires/exhaust. These cars were fun, incredibly well built and very responsive (all had manual transmissions). In over 250,000 miles in those five cars, I had only one (1!) problem - an electrical relay in my driver's side window in my '94 Accord. Otherwise.. completely, utterly bulletproof. I truly enjoy the Euro cars that I have/or had now - but not one of them is/was as well built or as reliable as the Hondas were. I take incredibly good care of my cars, and none have left me stranded, but the Aero is plagued with electrical gremlins that worry me about a post 50K future for the car. I agree with all of you on the elusive nature of a car's soul - otherwise, the Acura 3.2CL/TLS's should be the cream of the crop (I drove them both and opted for the Aero). I have driven the new Accord and it is more "tight" than last years - I am drooling to get into the Coupe V6-six speed - it seems like a great package (only 25K! - money left over for hot-rodding).
Oh well,
It is a great time to love cars - even econoboxes do 0-60 in under 8 seconds! And teh Brits have been rescued by Ford, BMW, VW and GM - who would ever have imagined a Jag that would start in the rain.
Best
Eric
