Thanks for listening. I have found that unless you are an extremely capable mechanic yourself or are willing to pay for an extended warranty, it makes more sense to lease a new vehicle rather than buy a used one. My experience here with used Saabs has been frustrating because of unqualified mechanics and the the high cost of parts along with dealers and mechanics who think that because you own a Saab you have all the money in the world. I eliminate this problem by leasing for three years and changing over every three. This is probably more expensive than buying and holding for 7 or 8 if you can do much of the work yourself and buy parts on the internet. But if you are not mechanically inclined, Saab repairs and maintenece can be brutal. I also have an old 94 9000CDE, the purchase of which has proved to be an economic lesson I won't repeat. I could have bought a new 9-3 for what I have paid on this car and every month there is something else to fix. I could easily drop another several grand into it right now just to get it running properly.
