His insurer can't tell you what to do with your car - he pays the bill and you keep the car and the money. Then you decide what to do with your car. If you let your company do it, they decide for you, and collect from him. (assuming it was clearly his fault. If not, forget what i said).
It's easier to collect from your collision coverage, but its charged as an accident claim, and a lot of companies will cancel you after two or three claims in a couple of years.
If it's clearly his fault, you have the option of putting your company on hold, and collecting from him first. If successful, you'll have no claim record with your company.
