i've struggled with this issue for the past year. got the little modulator at the apple store (merkin, belkin...? whatever) and it works almost okay when i'm way out in the sticks. but even then, it fades in and out disconcertingly and seems to be dependent on where you place the thing. of course the 9-3 doesn't have any great spots to rest something this size, but i digress. i even found that slinging the thing over my shoulder gave some of the best recepton. it wasn't a good look, and only a matter of time before before i had an accident while messing with it.

oh, but i thought i had a cute solution and went to radio shack for a mini jack (that's how the fm modulator attaches) 6 foot extension cord . i was able to tuck the modulator under/behind the rear driver side headrest--right next to the antennae. genius, right?

well, for some reason the sound only came in through one side of the speakers. i ripped the thing out and now bug friends to burn me cds (my old g3 won't burn).

i know saab (and the recording industry) doesn't want to make this easy for us, but come on... someone HAS to find an easyish hack/solution for this. how hard could it be. there's GOT to be money in it. i, too, will pay a sizeable chunk.
