I am curious to see what others think about the new Saab 9-2. I myself am very curious to see the final specs. on this car. Here are some of my thoughts:

Plus: Subaru Drivetrain: This one is obvious. The turbo 2.0 liter flat-four is a great motor, as is their all-wheel drive system. The Impreza has been a cult car in Europe the past 10 years for good reason - just read any European car magazine (which you should do anyway, as they are much more interesting than U.S. publications). The motor and driving dynamics are first-rate. Hopefully Saab will use the six-speed transmission from the STI (unfortunately, I don't see the 9-2 getting the 2.5 liter VVT motor) or their own unit. For a 2005 vehicle, a 5-speed would be a retro-grade.
Subaru Reliability: No knock on GM, but I would rather my vehicle's underpinnings be Subaru's, not GM's. One thing Subaru's have always been is reliable (albeit rusty back in the day). GM cannot say the same.
Subaru / Saab likeness: I have always thought of Subaru as the "Saab" of Japanese cars. Slighty off-beat cars with a die-hard following.

Minus: Subaru Styling: This pertains more to the inside of the car. I am sure that Saab will do a nice job integrating the WRX wagon's (only body style for 9-2) exterior into the current Saab line-up. I just hope that they do the same for the interior. While Subaru has come a long way, they are still not on par with Saab or other European cars in this price segment.
Lack of Niche: This could also be a plus, but aside from the Audi S4 wagon (not in the same class as the 9-2) - there would be no competition. Will people justify the (presumed) cost increase over a $26k WRX wagon?

Here are my thoughts - what does everyone else think?
