Some will say 10K. I am conservative and like to change it every 5K -- I would think a 3 mile roundtrip commute is tough on the engine -- it never gets to warm up. I would definitly do every 5K under that scenario. The thing I changed was length of time with synth -- I no longer worry about 5K miles OR 6 months....Time seems less important than use and type of use.

Thats my 2 cents.
