I mounted mine on the top using Nick's kit. I had to cut some tabs off the "cubby" portion of it, but I made it fit. I needed it to be on top because the retracting lcd screen wouldn't make it past the windshield wiper stalk on the bottom. On the top, it still hits it, but I can at least turn the wipers on for a moment whenever I deploy/retract the screen. I'm working on bending the stalk just a bit so I don't have to do that.
Also, I finally got around to wiring up the stock amp (2003 9-3 SE Convertible) again to the new pioneer head unit. Oh man I forgot what I was missing without the door speakers - the aftermarket head unit was pretty much a sideways step in sound quality from the Stock + Amp/Door Subs, but with the amp back in, it's worlds better.
I bought my head unit mostly so I could hook my iPod up to it (and for navigation) For now iPod sits on the seat and plugs into the line in jack from the phone-holder pass-through in the passenger kick panel. Next up is the phone holder and some hardwired power for iPod so it doesn't have to sit on the seat. Overall I'm very happy with my upgrades, and the navigation system has saved my butt many times already. It's too bad Saab didn't include (and still doesn't) a navigation option and an aux-input. I do miss steering wheel controls and the nice understated look of the stock radio. The new Acura TL's package is so impressive - DVD audio, navigation, and bluetooth phone link all built in and nice looking.... Oh well.
